About “Into the Void“
The new EP “Into the Void“ (date of release 3-17-23) consists of five tracks which deal with daily shit but descend into the black abyss of Fjolla’s and Johannes’ darkest und most truthful feelings.
“Show me your ugly face“ is the first line of the single “Rain on a Funeral March“. The tracks oscillate between pure despair and a gleam of hope. So the aftertaste won’t stick too bitter on the listener’s tongue. This is fresh and handmade indiepop, on which you’ve been waiting for a long time.

Die Augsburger Indiepop-Band Nivis veröffentlicht am 03.03.2023 ihre neue Single „Rain on a Funeral March“ aus der EP „Into the Void“ (Release-Datum 17.03.23).

Die neue EP „Into the Void“ (Release-Datum 17.03.23) umfasst fünf Tracks, die sich inhaltlich am daily Shit abarbeiten und hinabsteigen bis in die schwarzen Tiefen der dunkelsten und ehrlichsten Gefühle von Fjolla und Johannes.
„Show me your ugly face“ ist die allererste Textzeile der Single „Rain on a Funeral March“. Dabei oszillieren die Songs immer zwischen purer Verzweiflung und einem Schimmer Hoffnung. So bleibt der Nachgeschmack nicht zu bitter auf der Zunge kleben. Das ist frischer und handgemachter Indiepop, auf den man schon lange gewartet hat.

In 2020 Fjolla – only 16 years old at that time – and Johannes founded the Indiepop Band Nivis.
Their fi rst meeting was just als special as the harmony of Fjolla’s unique and velvety voice and Johannes’s hands upon the guitar strings. A long haired man bun wearing guy in brown worn out leather boots was dancing around as he wanted to bring inspiration to a school band. On this workshop he fell in with a young and strong soul, who can transport everything with only her voice. They start a conversation, play their own songs to each other and decide to found a band. Nivis is born.
Then comes corona. During all the related restrictions they produce over 20 songs, nine of which are already released on spotify. Nivis’ special sound is based on classic indie guitars combined with carefully designed synthesizer sounds. The whole thing is wrapped up in Fjolla’s powerful voice. Their lyrics are streaked by self-doubt and melancholy but from such an authenticity that there’s only one conclusion: they sing about personal experience.
„We write sad songs about sad stuff . Have fun with it.“ The stated goal of the pop
duo has always been to create music so sad, it could make it into the Rick and Morty credits.
Hopefully a Nivis song will soon be heard on the show.

2020 gründet die damals gerade 16-jährige Fjolla mit Johannes die Indiepop-Band Nivis.
Genauso besonders wie der Zusammenklang aus Fjollas einzigartig samtiger Stimme und Johannes Händen an der Gitarre war schon ihr Kennenlernen. Ein in abgewätzten Lederboots herumtanzender langhaariger Typ mit Männerdutt, der Inspiration in eine Schulband bringen wollte, trifft in dessen Workshop auf eine junge starke Seele, die alles mit ihrer Stimme transportieren kann. Sie kommen ins Gespräch, spielen sich gegenseitig ihre Musik vor und beschließen, eine Band zu gründen. Nivis ist geboren.
Dann kommt Corona. Während der damit einhergehenden Einschränkungen produzieren die beiden über 20 Songs, neun davon sind bisher auf Spotify erschienen. Der besondere Klang von Nivis basiert auf klassischer Indiegitarre kombiniert mit sorgfältig kreierten Synthesizer Sounds. Das Ganze eingehüllt in Fjollas Stimmkraft. Ihre Texte sind von Selbstzweifel und Melancholie durchzogen aber von einer Authentizität, die nur den Schluss zulässt, dass es sich um persönliche Erfahrung handelt.
„We write sad songs about sad stuff . Have fun with it.“ Dabei ist es immer das erklärte Ziel des Indie-Pop-Duos, Musik zu erschaff en, die so traurig ist, dass sie in den Rick & Morty- Abspann passt. Hoffentlich wird da auch mal ein Nivis Song landen.
